Memorial Day is a sacred time for us to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. With grateful hearts, we thank Almighty God for the precious gift of freedom that was secured through their courage, sacrifice, and love for others. As we gather this weekend, let us remember the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13).

We also offer our heartfelt prayers for all those who continue to serve in the military throughout the world. May the Lord protect them, strengthen them, and bring them safely home to their families.

Among those we remember are beloved sons of our parish family who gave their lives defending our freedom.

World War II: John Lezan, Michael Kost, Nicholas Molodec, and Peter Nebesh.

Korean War: Joseph Krupa.

May Christ our God receive them into His heavenly kingdom and grant them blessed rest with the saints. Memory Eternal.

In keeping with the sacred tradition of our parish, we will gather on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery to pray for the repose of the souls of our departed loved ones.

The day of remembrance will begin at 8:00 a.m. with individual family memorial services at the gravesites of those who have fallen asleep in the Lord. At 9:00 a.m., we will gather together as one parish family for a general Panakhyda in front of the cemetery monument, offering our prayers with love, gratitude, and remembrance for all who have gone before us, especially those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

May the Lord grant eternal rest to all the departed, and may their memory be eternal.

День Пам’яті є для нас священним часом, коли ми вшановуємо та згадуємо мужніх чоловіків і жінок, які віддали своє життя на службі нашому народові. З вдячними серцями ми дякуємо Всемогутньому Богові за дорогоцінний дар свободи, здобутий їхньою мужністю, жертовністю та любов’ю до ближніх. Збираючись цього святкового вікенду, згадаймо слова Господа нашого Ісуса Христа: "Ніхто більшої любови не має над ту, як хто душу свою покладе за друзів своїх" (Івана 15:13).

Також підносимо щирі молитви за всіх тих, хто і сьогодні продовжує служити у війську по всьому світі. Нехай Господь охороняє їх, укріпляє та щасливо повертає до їхніх родин.

Серед тих, кого ми сьогодні згадуємо, є улюблені сини нашої парафіяльної родини, які віддали своє життя, захищаючи нашу свободу.

Друга Світова Війна: Іван Лезан, Михайло Кост, Микола Молодець та Петро Небеш.

Корейська Війна: Йосип Крупа.

Нехай Христос Бог упокоїть їх у Своєму Небесному Царстві та дарує їм блаженний спокій разом зі святими. Вічна їм пам’ять.

Зберігаючи священну традицію нашої парафії, у День Пам’яті, у понеділок, 25 травня, ми зберемося на цвинтарі Brooklyn Heights Cemetery, щоб помолитися за упокій душ наших спочилих рідних і близьких.

День пам’яті розпочнеться о 8:00 ранку індивідуальними родинними панахидами біля могил тих, хто відійшов до Господа. В 9:00 ранку ми зберемося як одна парафіяльна родина на загальну Панахиду біля хреста на цвинтарі, підносячи до Бога молитви любові, вдячності та пам’яті за всіх, хто відійшов у вічність, особливо за тих, хто служив і жертвував собою заради нашої свободи.

Нехай Господь дарує всім спочилим вічний спокій, а їхня пам’ять нехай буде вічною.
