On Palm Sunday, as we commemorate the Entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, we find ourselves standing at the threshold of Holy Week, a time that calls us to witness not only the triumphal entry of Christ, but the unfolding of His suffering, death, and resurrection. The crowds, waving palm branches, hailed Him as King, but this moment of glory was fleeting, for He entered not to be crowned with earthly honor but to be crowned with thorns. As He rides into the city on a humble donkey, He shows us that true kingship is not of this world; it is a kingship that comes not through might or power, but through sacrifice, humility, and love. He reveals that the path to the Kingdom of Heaven is not paved with triumphs and accolades, but with trials and the willing embrace of suffering for the sake of others.
The days that follow, as we walk with Him through the agony of the Passion, speak to us in ways that challenge the comfort of our modern lives. We are reminded that Christ, knowing the pain He was about to endure, did not shy away from it but embraced it fully for the salvation of the world. In this, we see the depth of His love: a love that does not recoil from suffering but accepts it as a necessary part of the redemption of humanity. How often do we, in our own lives, seek to avoid suffering, to escape from the trials and tribulations that life inevitably brings? But Christ shows us that suffering, when united with His, becomes redemptive. It has the power to change not only our hearts but the world itself.
As we contemplate His crucifixion, we realize that the Cross is not just a symbol of death but a symbol of life – life that is given freely, without measure, for those who are unworthy. It is the ultimate paradox: the King of Glory, hanging on a tree, is the source of eternal life for all who believe. His death is not defeat but victory over sin and death, and His resurrection is the triumph of light over darkness. But this victory is not for us to celebrate passively. The resurrection of Christ, which we joyfully embrace on Pascha, calls us to live in the light of His victory every day, to let His resurrection shape our lives, to transform us from the inside out.
In this world of unrest and turmoil, where peace often feels distant, Holy Week teaches us that true peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of Christ. Christ, in His Passion, shows us that peace is not found in the world’s way of thinking, nor in fleeting comforts or the pursuit of personal glory, but in self-sacrificial love. His life, death, and resurrection reveal the path to true peace: it is found in laying down our lives for others, in humility, in forgiveness, in love. And this peace is not of this world, for it is a peace that transcends all understanding, a peace that is rooted in the eternal victory of Christ over death. As we walk through Holy Week, we are invited not merely to remember the events of Christ's life but to enter into them. The journey is not just one of external observance; it is an internal transformation, a call to take up our own cross, to follow Him into the depths of suffering, and to rise with Him in newness of life. It is a journey that beckons us to live in the fullness of His resurrection, to become His body in the world, to bring His light into the darkness around us.
In our modern, often fragmented world, the Cross and Resurrection remind us that true peace, true life, is found not in avoiding the struggles of life, but in embracing them with Christ, knowing that in His wounds we are healed. And so, as we enter into this Holy Week, we are called to renew our commitment to follow Him, to take up the cross daily, to bear witness to His love, and to live as resurrected people in a world that desperately needs His light. Let us not forget that the victory has already been won, and through
Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection, we are called to live as those who have been made new, for the peace of Christ has come to dwell in our hearts, and through Him, we too shall rise.

У Вербну неділю, коли ми вшановуємо Вхід Господа нашого Ісуса Христа до Єрусалиму, ми стоїмо на порозі Страсного Тижня, часу, який кличе нас стати свідками не тільки славного входу Христа, але й розгортання Його страждань, смерті та воскресіння. Натовпи, махаючи пальмовими гілками, вітали Його як Царя, але цей момент слави був мимолітним, адже Він увійшов не для того, щоб бути коронованим земною честю, а щоб бути увінчаним терновим вінцем. Їдучи на смиренному ослі до міста, Він показує нам, що справжнє царство не від цього світу; це царство, яке приходить не через силу чи могутність, а через жертву, смирення і любов. Він відкриває, що шлях до Царства Небесного не вимощений тріумфами та нагородами, а випробуваннями та добровільним прийняттям страждань заради інших.

Наступні дні, коли ми йдемо з Ним через страждання Страстей, звертаються до нас такими словами, які дають виклик зручності нашого сучасного життя. Ми згадуємо, що Христос, знаючи біль, який Йому належить пережити, не ухилився від нього, а прийняв його повністю задля спасіння світу. В цьому ми бачимо глибину Його любові: любов, яка не відступає від страждань, але приймає їх як необхідну частину викуплення людства. Як часто в нашому житті ми прагнемо уникнути страждань, втекти від випробувань і труднощів, що дає життя? Але Христос показує нам, що страждання, коли воно є з’єднане з Ним, стає викупним. Воно має силу змінювати не тільки наші серця, але й сам світ.

Роздумуючи про Його розп'яття, ми розуміємо, що Хрест – це не тільки символ смерті, а й символ життя – життя, що дається безкоштовно, без мірки, для тих, хто є недостойними. Це остаточна парадоксальність: Цар Слави, що висить на дереві, є джерелом вічного життя для всіх, хто вірить. Його смерть – це не поразка, а перемога над гріхом і смертю, а Його воскресіння – це перемога світла над темрявою. Але ця перемога не є для нас, щоб ми святкували її пасивно. Воскресіння Христа, яке ми з радістю святкуємо на Пасху, закликає нас жити в світлі Його перемоги щодня, дозволяти Його воскресінню формувати наше життя, перетворюючи нас зсередини.

У цьому світі неспокою та хвилювань, де мир часто здається далеким, Стасний Тиждень вчить нас, що справжній мир – це не відсутність конфлікту, а присутність Христа. Христос у Своїй Страсті показує нам, що мир не знаходиться в світському мисленні, не в мимолітних втіхах чи прагненні до особистої слави, а в самопожертвувальній любові. Його життя, смерть і воскресіння відкривають шлях до справжнього миру: він знаходиться в тому, щоб покласти своє життя за інших, у смиренні, прощенні, любові. І цей мир не від цього світу, бо він перевищує всяке розуміння, мир, який коріниться в вічній перемозі Христа над смертю. Коли ми йдемо через Страсний Тиждень, нас запрошують не просто пам'ятати події життя Христа, але й увійти в них. Подорож – це не тільки зовнішнє спостереження; це внутрішня переміна, покликання підняти свій власний хрест, слідувати за Ним у глибини страждань і воскреснути з Ним у новому житті. Це подорож, яка кличе нас жити в повноті Його воскресіння, ставати Його тілом у світі, приносити Його світло в темряву навколо нас.

У нашому сучасному, часто фрагментованому світі, Хрест і Воскресіння нагадують нам, що справжній мир, справжнє життя не знаходиться в уникненні труднощів життя, а в прийнятті їх з Христом, знаючи, що в Його ранах ми зцілюємося. І тому, вступаючи в цей Страсний Тиждень, ми закликаємо оновити нашу відданість слідувати за Ним, щодня брати хрест, свідчити про Його любов і жити як воскреслі люди в світі, який так потребує Його світла. Не забуваймо, що перемога вже здобута, і через Страсті, Смерть і Воскресіння Христа ми покликані жити як нові створіння, бо мир Христовий прийшов жити в наших серцях, і через Нього ми також воскреснемо.
