Our parish family of St. Vladimir Cathedral, together with the entire community of greater Parma, solemnly commemorated the first anniversary of the unprovoked war by Russia on our peace loving citizens of Ukraine.

Наш Свято-Володимирський кафедральний собор разом з усією громадою Парми урочисто відзначив першу річницю неспровокованої війни Росії проти наших миролюбних громадян України.

The first event of the weekend took place on Friday evening, February 24th, at the Jewish Temple-Tifereth Israel in Beachwood, OH. That congregation, together with their religious leaders, were the first to reach out to our parish with words of comfort and support following the beginning of the war. They again reached out to us on the first anniversary of the war, inviting our clergy and choir to participate in a “Ukrainian Solidarity Service”. Our clergy offered prayers and greetings while our beautiful choir sang hymns from the Psalms. They also sang the prayer for Ukraine “Bozhe Velyky” and “Memory Eternal! На вихідних перша подія відбулася у п’ятницю ввечері, 24 лютого, в Єврейському храмі Тіферет Ізраїль у Бічвуді, Огайо. Ця громада разом зі своїми релігійними лідерами була першою, хто після початку війни звернувся до нашої парафії зі словами підтримки. Вони знову звернулися до нас у першу річницю війни, запросивши наше духовенство та хор взяти участь в «Українській службі солідарності». Наше духовенство піднесло молитви та привітання, а наш прекрасний хор співав псалми. Також заспівали молитву за Україну «Боже Великий» та «Вічна пам’ять за всіма загиблими. On Saturday morning, the children and teachers of the older classes of our Ukrainian school gathered in church for a Moleben service to pray for the suffering of our people because of the war. The beautiful singing of the children brought smiles to all who participated. A special message on the love for Ukraine and the United States was directed to the youth.

Вранці у суботу діти та вчителі старших класів нашої української школи зібралися в храмі на молебні, щоб помолитися за страждання нашого народу від війни. Гарний спів дітей викликав усмішки у всіх присутніх. Особливий меседж для молоді був про любов до України та Сполучених Штатів.

Later that afternoon, our clergy and community representatives met in our Famine Room with Congressman Max Miller of the 7^th Congressional District.  He is 34 years old and has only been in office for two months. Together with other congressmen, he recently returned from Ukraine.  The meeting with Congressman Miller was extremely informative and uplifting.  He spoke of his interaction with Ukrainian government leaders and soldiers.

Після обіду того самого дня, наше духовенство та представники громади зустрілися в нашій Кімнаті Голодомору з конгресменом Максом Міллером із 7-го виборчого округу. Йому 34 роки, а на посаді лише 2 місяці. Разом з іншими конгресменами він нещодавно повернувся з України. Зустріч із конгресменом Міллером була надзвичайно пізнавальною та піднесеною. Він розповів про свою співпрацю з керівництвом української влади та військовими.

At 5:00 p.m., approximately 200 members of the Ukrainian community gathered at St. Vladimir Cathedral for a Moleben service for the welfare of the people in Ukraine and a successful end to the war, followed by a memorial service for the departed soldiers and innocent people who died in the conflict. Local clergy participated and our choir sang the responses beautifully. Following the service, everyone gathered in the parish center to view a video on the devastation of the war. Local government officials in attendance also spoke. Four Cleveland television stations covered this event on their evening news programs.

В 5:00 год. веч. близько 200 представників української громади зібралися у нашому Свято-Володимирському соборі на Молебен за добробут народу України та успішне завершення війни, після чого відбулася панахида за полеглими воїнами та невинними людьми, які загинули під час цієї війни. Молебен служило місцеве духовенство і наш хор чудово співав. Після богослужіння всі зібралися в парафіяльному залі, щоб переглянути відео про лихоліття війни. Також виступили представники місцевої влади. Чотири телевізійні станції Клівленда висвітлювали цю подію у своїх вечірніх випусках новин.

During Sunday’s 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Liturgies, special prayers were offered for the welfare of those in harms way. Sunday concluded with a Moleben at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral in Parma, OH, with clergy from all local parishes participating. Під час недільних Літургій о 8:30р. та 10:30 р. були піднесені особливі молитви за благополуччя постраждалих. Неділя завершилася молебнем в Українському Католицькому Соборі, в якому взяло участь духовенство з усіх місцевих парафій.
