Mother's Day at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, was a resplendent Sunday, rich with spiritual and communal joy. The day was marked by the continuing celebration of the Resurrection of Christ and the Sunday of St. Thomas. The Divine Liturgy, led by Pastor, Fr. Michael Hontaruk and concelebrated with Pastor Emeritus Fr. John Nakonachny, was a profound spiritual experience, uplifting all present with prayers for mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and all departed mothers.

День Матері в Українському Православному Соборі св. Володимира в Пармі, Огайо, був яскравою неділею, насиченою духовною та спільною радістю. Цей день ознаменувався продовженням святкування Воскресіння Христового та Фоминої неділі. Божественну Літургію, яку очолив о. Михайло Гонтарук, настоятель у співслужінні з настоятелем-емеритом о. Іваном Наконечним, був глибоким духовним досвідом, який підніс усіх присутніх молитвою за матерів, бабусь, хрещених матерів та всіх покійних матерів.

At the close of the liturgy, Fr. John and the Parish Board President, Mr. Geof Greeleaf, extended heartfelt greetings to Fr. Michael and Dobrodiyka Anna on the 21st anniversary of Fr. Michael’s ordination to the Holy Priesthood. Fr. Michael, in turn, honored His Eminence Archbishop Daniel on his 16th Archpastoral consecration anniversary and 23rd ordination anniversary, and also celebrated significant milestones for Fr. John and Pani Matka Mary Anne – 52 wedding anniversary, as well as for parishioners Debbie and Robert Grieves – 28 wedding anniversary and those celebrating birthdays.

На завершення літургії о. Іван та голова парафіяльної управи пан Джеф Ґріліф сердечно привітали о. МихаЙла та Добродійку Анну з нагоди 21 річниці рукоположення о. Михайла у священичий сан. Отець Михайло, у свою чергу, вшанував Високопреосвященнішого Архієпископа Даниїла з нагоди його 16-ї річниці архіпастирської хіротонії та 23-ї річниці рукоположення у священичий сан, а також відзначив значні віхи для о. Івана та Пані Матки Мар’яни – 52 річниця одруження, а також для парафіян Деббі та Роберта Ґрівс – 28 річниця одруження та всіх іменинників.

The celebration continued in the parish hall, beautifully arranged under the direction of hall manager Mrs. Liudmyla Ivakhiv. After Fr. Michael blessed the meal, the congregation enjoyed delightful dishes prepared by the St. Olha Sisterhood, led by Mrs. Iryna Dudyak. The parish youth, under the guidance of Mrs. Oksana Logvynyuk, presented a touching program for Mother's Day, culminating in the presentation of roses to mothers, grandmothers, and godmothers, generously sponsored by the St. Vladimir Brotherhood.

Свято продовжилось у гарно облаштованій парафіяльній залі під керівництвом завідуючої пані Людмили Івахів. Після того, як о. Михайло поблагословив трапезу, громада насолоджувалася смачними стравами, приготованими сестрицтвом св. Ольги на чолі з п. Іриною Дудяк. Парафіяльна молодь під керівництвом пані Оксани Логвинюк представила зворушливу програму до Дня Матері, а завершилася врученням троянд мамам, бабусям і хрещеним матерям, щедро спонсорованим Свято-Володимирським братством.

The day was also a time for recognition and gratitude. Tamara Host was celebrated as "Parishioner of the Year 2023," while Mrs. Dareen and Mr. Michael Jogan received Lifetime Achievement Awards. Mrs. Lydia Schkurko was honored with an icon of the Mother of God for her dedicated service as parish secretary upon her retirement. Mr. Victor Bohuslawsky was presented with an icon of Savior Jesus Christ, commemorating his 30 years of faithful service as cantor. Additionally, both Mr. Markian Komichak and Mr. Oleh Mahlay were acknowledged for their musical dedication to the parish with bouquets of flowers.

Цей день також був часом для визнання та вдячності. Тамара Хост була відзначена як «Парафіянка 2023 року», а пані Дорін і пан Михайло Джоган отримали нагороди за Життєві Досягнення. За самовіддане служіння на посаді секретаря парафії після відходу на пенсію п. Лідію Шкурко вшанували іконою Божої Матері. Віктору Богуславському була подарована ікона Спасителя Ісуса Христа на згадку про 30-річчя вірного служіння як дяк. Крім того, п. Маркіян Комічак та п. Олег Махлай були відзначені за музичну посвяту парафії букетами квітів.

The festivities concluded with an Easter egg hunt for the children, organized by Dobrodiyka Anna, and a raffle, adding to the community spirit. The event was a testament to the collaborative spirit and strength of St. Vladimir's parish community. Sincere thanks were extended to all who contributed to the planning, execution, and cleanup of the event. As they say, "As we work together, we are strong!" Святкування завершилося полюванням за пасхальними яйцями для дітей, яке організувала Добродійка Анна, та розіграшем лотереї, що додало духу спільноти. Ця подія стала свідченням духу співпраці та сили громади парафії Святого Володимира. Була висловлена щира подяка всім, хто долучився до планування, проведення та прибирання. Як то кажуть: «Разом ми сильні!» Нехай Бог благословить усіх тих, хто приєднався до цього святкування, і продовжувати підтримувати такий живий дух нашої Свято-Володимирської парафії.
