On Sunday, July 7, 2024, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, celebrated a joyous parish feast day. The Divine Liturgy was led by Pastor Fr. Michael Hontaruk, alongside Pastor Emeritus Fr. John Nakonachny and Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay. The congregation united in prayer for the wellbeing of the parish, peace in Ukraine, and the prosperity of the United States. During the Divine Liturgy, the parish choir beautifully sang under the direction of choir director Mr. Markian Komichak. Following the Liturgy, a delightful banquet was held in the Grand Hall, expertly prepared by the Sisterhood of St. Olha under the leadership of Mrs. Iryna Dudyak, and beautifully decorated by sisterhood members guided by Mrs. Liudmyla Ivakhiv, Hall Manager, with additional touches from Ulyana and David Woznak. Mr. Geof Greenleaf, Parish Board President, served as the Master of Cemony. The dinner commenced with the Lord’s Prayer, and Fr. Michael and Fr. John blessed the food. A surprise performance by renowned Ukrainian singer Oksana Bilozir, sponsored by Dr. Taras Mahlay and the School of Bandura, evoked a sense of being in Ukraine. Parish Administrator Mrs. Lucy Komichak spoke about the upcoming centennial celebration. Scholarships were awarded by Mr. Serhij Nahornij to high school graduates Mykola Logvynyuk and Anastasia Vygovska. The celebration concluded with heartfelt thanks from Fr. Michael Hontaruk, who encouraged everyone to continue working and praying together as one family in Jesus Christ.
