Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!

As we stand at the threshold of the Great and Holy Lent, we embark together on a sacred journey - a journey that leads us through the desert of repentance and spiritual struggle to the radiant dawn of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This is not merely an individual endeavor but a collective pilgrimage of the entire Mystical Body of Christ - the Holy Church, through which we are called to renewal, purification, and transfiguration in the grace of the Holy Spirit.

Lent is a time of return - a return to God, to our true selves, and to the divine purpose for which we were created. The Church Fathers, including the great ascetics St. John Climacus, St. Clement of Alexandria, and St. Mary of Egypt, teach us that spiritual perfection is not attained in a single moment but is the fruit of daily striving, step by step, uprooting sin and planting virtue, cleansing the soul and cultivating holiness.

On Sunday, March 2, 2025, prior to the Ukrainian Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, and following weeks of preparation and instruction, Yuri Boechko and Liubomyr Hryhorchyn were blessed and enabled for the first time to wear the Altar Boys’ robes. In front of the Iconostas a special prayer was read before the clergy place a robe (styhar) on Yuri and Liubomyr.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy presented to them the Icons of the Savior Jesus Christ, a gift from the St. Vladimir Cathedral, as a remembrance of this special day for Youri and Liubomyr and their families. May God bless them and all family members for many blessed years!

Б., перед початком Україномовної Божественної Літургії у Свято-Володимирському Православному Кафедральному Соборі, Парма, Огайо, після підготовки, Юрій Боєчко та Любомир Григорчин отримали благословіння вперше одягнути стихар для вівтарного прислужника. Перед іконостасом, над ними було прочитано спеціальну молитву. Після відпусту на Літургії, духовенство, від імені Свято-Володимирського Собору, вручило Юрію та Любомиру на згадку цього особливого дня, ікону Спасителя. On this solemn occasion, we will gather to commemorate the three years of war that have left a deep impact on the lives of those affected by the war in Ukraine. Together, we will pay our respects to the lives lost and devastated as a result of this ongoing strife. This event is organized by the Cleveland Maidan Association, and we encourage everyone to come together in unity and solidarity to convey our message of remembrance and support to the world.

Vasyl Kovalenko, age 94, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Beloved husband of Nina Kovalenko (Wlasow) for 68 years. Devoted father to Irene Krimm (Mike), Maria Leysens (Gus), Lina Gall (Tim) and Nina Glad (John, deceased). Grandfather to Nathan Kopp, Nicholas Leysens, Greg Leysens, Bobby Gall (Lauren), Julie Tilley (Lacy), Andy Gall (Sarah), Nicole Omilion (Matt), Leah Kriaras (Dimitrios) and Johnny Glad (Sierra). Great Grandfather to Everett, Abigail, Katerina, Claire, Milania, Mason and Wyatt. Brother to Parasia (deceased), uncle and friend to many nieces and nephews both here and in Ukraine.

In the Orthodox Church, the blessing of homes with the Jordan Holy Water is an important and cherished tradition, particularly after the Feast of Theophany. As we stand at the threshold of the year 2025, we give thanks to Almighty God for His abundant blessings, which have carried us through the joys and trials of the past year. With grateful hearts, we now turn our eyes toward the future, welcoming the gift of a new year—a time for renewal, reflection, and recommitment to our journey of faith.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, our St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, was graced with a deeply spiritual Youth Sunday. The morning began with a bilingual Divine Liturgy, presided over by the Cathedral's pastor, Fr. Michael Hontaruk, along with pastor emeritus Fr. John Nakonachny, Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay, and visiting priest from Ternopil, Ukraine, Fr. Volodymyr Savchyn. The Liturgy was beautifully sung by the choir, under the direction of Markian Komichak, whose voices filled the Cathedral with sacred harmony. As the Liturgy came to a close, our parish was blessed by a group of carolers who shared their joyful songs in celebration of the Nativity of Christ. The Youth Choir, under the direction of Natalia Mahlay, performed the new carol "The Night Was Brightly Lit With Stars," a carol that was first professionally performed by the Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus under Maestro Oleh Mahlay in Washington, D.C. and was now being sung for the second time here at our parish. We are truly grateful for the dedication of our Youth Minister, Oksana Logvynyuk, who thoughtfully prepared our children for this beautiful program. The youth did an outstanding job glorifying the newborn Child Jesus through their heartfelt performance. Additionally, the students of the Hryhoriy Kytasty School of Bandura played carols, filling our hearts with joy and reverence. At the end of the program, Fr. Michael Hontaruk expressed his gratitude to all participants, encouraging parents to enroll their children in Sunday School and other parish activities. He concluded by wishing everyone a blessed celebration of the Nativity, inviting all present to join in singing the traditional Ukrainian carol "God Eternal," a beautiful and unifying moment that uplifted all who were present.

The evening of Saturday, December 28, was a resounding success as the St. Vladimir Youth gathered for a heartwarming and memorable Family Night. This joyous event was made possible through the tireless efforts of parish youth minister Oksana Logvynyuk, along with the invaluable contributions of Natalia and Oleh Mahlay, Liudmyla and Vasyl Ivakhiv, and Tanya Iuryniuk. The event not only brought together the youth, but also their parents and grandparents, creating a wonderful atmosphere of community and togetherness. Laughter and joy filled the air as everyone participated in games, shared heartfelt conversations, enjoyed caroling, and savored delicious pizza. A special highlight of the evening was the lively game of BINGO, expertly moderated by Kyrylo Mahlay. As we reflect on this unforgettable evening, we offer our deepest gratitude to all those involved and pray that God's blessings continue to shine brightly upon them.
